Photography by Max Blechman

Enigma Art

The very name suggests to the viewer how to best approach these photos, which show unfamiliar views of ordinary objects or everyday scenes. These photographic moments, encountered most every day, usually go unrecognized. It is Blechman’s artistry to notice this evanescent imagery and to capture that moment for everyone.

The play of light is often a common denominator; it can turn a humdrum composition into a dazzler. The images aren’t retouched, but may be cropped to enable the viewer to look more precisely through the artist’s eyes.

The viewer will receive no informational help from the photo’s title to interpret what’s shown, since the titles merely commemorate the names of his family and friends. They have no connection to the image, but serve merely as an identifier.
